The words a chart uses
Mars in astrology
Mars is traditionally associated with drive and action: in a chart, an invitation to notice how that theme shows up in your experience.
Mars is traditionally associated with drive, action, desire and assertion. Its sign is read as how you go after things, and its house as where you spend that effort.
Mars turns retrograde about every two years, for around two and a half months, which the tradition reads as a time to reconsider where your effort goes before pressing on.
A reading of your Mars asks what you want enough to act on, and how you act when something is in the way.
