What is a Saturn return?

A Saturn return is Saturn coming back to the place it held at your birth, about every 29.5 years, which the tradition reads as an occasion to review structure and responsibility.

Saturn takes about 29.5 years to travel once around the zodiac. So, near the ages of twenty nine, fifty nine and eighty eight, it returns to the degree it held when you were born and makes a conjunction to your natal Saturn. Because Saturn turns retrograde every year, the return often has three exact passes spread over most of a year.

What it is associated with

Saturn is traditionally associated with structure, responsibility, limits and time. Its return is read as an occasion to look at the commitments you carry: which you chose, which you inherited, which you want to keep and which you might renegotiate.

Many people describe the late twenties as a time of taking stock, and astrology has a symbol for it. That is a correspondence of themes, not a cause. Your own Saturn return may feel significant, quiet, or like nothing at all, and each is a valid experience of it.

Seeing yours

The Transits page shows Saturn's contacts to your natal Saturn when they fall in its window, and the life-span reports read the slow planets' passages across eighty years from your birth, Saturn's returns among them, as occasions by age.
